Welcome to Melbourne Veranda

Welcome to  Melbourne Veranda — For over 13  years My team and I have been designing and Building high quality Carports, verandah, pergolas for customers all over Melbourne and Victoria. As a Builder I’m involved in all aspects of your jobs.

1. What is the cost of building a new Verandah in Australia?
The installation cost for decking Australia varies on your project space and the essential materials for the installation. As a ballpark amount, the project cost can range between $300 and $1,000 per sqm. The reason for the price variations is the features that each Veranda has. Each of which has special characteristics that will suit your requirements.

Your budget, style and other personal specifications will determine which material will be better for you. Since each type of decking material possesses its own set of features and characteristics, one will definitely be unique than the other. For many customers, hardwood deck boards are proven to be durable than softwood deck boards. But in terms of price, softwood is the cheapest and allows a fast and easy installation. For composite deck boards, it combines sustainability and durability because they are made from plastic and wood fibres however will come at a higher cost.

In order to build your deck or pergola, the first step is to secure an approval from your local council. Doing so paves the way for the acquisition of your permit. Failing to get a permit could be problematic for you. The lack of permit will demand the payment of a fine or the removal of your installation. Each council sets their own standards and regulations for regulating your deck, pergola or verandah in terms of the right materials, structural stability and integrity and other building specifications. There are two permits that your council may require:

  • Planning Permit- this type of permit concerns itself with the design and metes and bounds of the project.
  • Building Permit- this type of permit deals with the safety measures and construction specifications of the project.

These two installations possess similar features in regard to design. However, the point of difference lies in the uses and the corresponding permit needed. Below the main distinction between the two structures:

  • Pergola – this installation has an open roof which covers a pathway or structural columns. To be more aesthetically pleasing, others place a plant over it.
  • Verandah – this installation has an open or slightly open portion attached to a house or building. Some would have a roofed space of a building annex to the main rooms.
As an experienced and certified builder, this is not a recommended option. This is so, because the old deck might already have decayed underneath. We recommend clients remove the old board to make way for the new deck boards – which we can certainly help with. Doing this will guarantee the best results and will help you avoid unnecessary costs in the future.
